Our Stats

We began our little Slaugh family chapter on May 1, 2010, in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple about 2 and half years ago! Sam stays busy working for Ralcorp Frozen Foods (better known as the people who make cookies for Lofthouse), creating all sorts of fun new recipes to go out for production. Samantha also stays pretty busy, working over in the laboratory blood bank at St. Mark's Hospital. Jayson is 1 and a half years old and growing up so quickly--he never ceases to amaze us! Maxwell is just one week old, but has already brought a fun new dynamic to our house. We love music, making new friends (that means YOU!), eating good food, being with our super awesome families, and each other :]

Five Weeks Already!!

I'm going to interrupt Sam's posting to interject a little bit of my own update (and btw who knows how often we will actually manage to update what with school, jobs, and a baby.....so cherish this one lol)!

Jayson is growing like crazy and being a pretty decent little baby overall. He probably weighs close to 11 pounds now, has moved up to size one diapers, and can fit some of his smaller 0-3 month clothes (which is good seeing as how his newborn stuff is starting to get snug and short). He had some pretty awful colic once we switched him to mostly formula, so now his formula is this really expensive stuff that is hypoallergenic--it does help luckily, and in combination with the gas drops we give him, he has calmed down a lot from the screaming and not sleeping baby he was a few weeks ago. More often than not he will give us at least two (if not three) hours between feedings at night, assuming he is swaddled up tightly and doesn't get any trapped gas. I know this is really good for a newborn and all, but I just can't wait until he sleeps through the night, because at least then I can feel less guilty about Sam doing most of the night feedings (not to mention the fact that I at least wake up momentarily every time he cries, and interrupted sleep diminishes the quality of it overall). Just so you all know, I really have the best husband when it comes to child care, cause he is so patient with Jayson and always steps in to take care of him when I just can't do it anymore :]

A few things that Jayson likes: his hospital pacifier--and popping it out of his mouth like crazy, 3 ounces in his bottle every 2 hours, being held by someone (especially Daddy), the baby carrier, holding his own head up when you try and burp him (he's extra strong for his age) and smiling as he falls asleep
A few things Jayson dislikes: his carseat, going less than 40 in the car, being swaddled (despite the fact that he sleeps so much better when we do), being alone, and having a wet or poopy diaper (you know how some kids will just sit in it for awhile no problem? He makes us fix it almost immediately!)

A few pictures of my little guy :] Sam took some adorable ones today, so I will make him add those later, but for now these will have to tide you over.

At about three weeks, trying to scoot away during tummy time (August 17)
Passed out in the carseat, thank goodness! (August 24)
Me, my daddy, and Jayson--it was so fun getting to visit with my old man :p (August 25)
Just love this one--both of my boys too tired to stay awake! (August 5)
