Our Stats

We began our little Slaugh family chapter on May 1, 2010, in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple about 2 and half years ago! Sam stays busy working for Ralcorp Frozen Foods (better known as the people who make cookies for Lofthouse), creating all sorts of fun new recipes to go out for production. Samantha also stays pretty busy, working over in the laboratory blood bank at St. Mark's Hospital. Jayson is 1 and a half years old and growing up so quickly--he never ceases to amaze us! Maxwell is just one week old, but has already brought a fun new dynamic to our house. We love music, making new friends (that means YOU!), eating good food, being with our super awesome families, and each other :]

Doctor's Visit - Take 2

Yesterday found us at Samantha's OB getting an ultrasound of our baby, Our rather naughty, disobedient, difficult baby. Ok, well, he wasn't being disobedient, he just wasn't cooperating. Maybe he was just trying to show us that we need to ask him before we want to take pictures of him.
Anyway, we get into the ultrasound room and Samantha get the thingy on her stomach, and we see our baby. It was awesome to be able to see him again, especially since this is our last ultrasound. The doctor (whose name shall remain unstated, although its not because i don't remember his name, no not at all) zoomed in on the baby's foot for measuring, whereupon Samantha "turns" to me and bemoans the fact that our child seems to have inherited my rather paddle-like feet. In my defense, of all the things that he could have inherited, my feet are some of the less painful things, for Samantha at least. Well, by this time the doctor has moved on to our baby's heart and chest. all four chambers are present and accounted for, and the heartbeat sounds good. In retrospect, that might have been my favorite part of the appointment because hearing his heartbeat is awesome: it makes him seem more real/there than seeing him on the monitor. I don't really know what makes it so, but it does.
After the chest we moved over to the head. Luckily his head isn't too big. We could see the little parts of the brain developing. Then we saw the diaphram and other body parts, and then we saw his little...oh wait, nevermind, we didn't see his boy parts. Before you freak out, no, we didn't see little girl parts either. Our son (based on our last ultrasound) decided he didn't want to open his legs and show anything. He was being very modest, which is all very well and good, but not when we are trying to see what he is being modest about.
The appointment kinda went downhill after that. Yes we did get a DVD of the ultrasound session, but I found myself wanting the DVD to have sound on it. I had to remember what the doctor was doing at different parts of the ultrasound. We did end up telling Dr. aerfioaqh4o0ghjsnfo;hjs that we had gotten another ultrasound, and he was like, "Meh." I don't think he was that thrilled, but he didn't seem to care. All in all, it was kinda a letdown for a last ultrasound. Oh well. Better luck next time (^_^)
