Our Stats

We began our little Slaugh family chapter on May 1, 2010, in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple about 2 and half years ago! Sam stays busy working for Ralcorp Frozen Foods (better known as the people who make cookies for Lofthouse), creating all sorts of fun new recipes to go out for production. Samantha also stays pretty busy, working over in the laboratory blood bank at St. Mark's Hospital. Jayson is 1 and a half years old and growing up so quickly--he never ceases to amaze us! Maxwell is just one week old, but has already brought a fun new dynamic to our house. We love music, making new friends (that means YOU!), eating good food, being with our super awesome families, and each other :]

The Weekend

Once upon a time there was a young couple, newly married couple who thought it would be a good idea to bring to pass the celebration of the year which had just gone past, it being the first year since they had wed. They gathered together all their flocks, and their servants (yeah, I wish) and left the safety of their castle for a far away land where food was plentiful and the water sweet. The name of this magical land was Redlobsteria, or in the language of the natives, "Restaurant of Lobsters Red."
As they entered the enchanted realm in their tattered carriage, they were astonished at the friendliness of the inhabitants of the country's capital city's main gates. Unlike the cold aloofness of the land from whence they had traveled, they were greeted upon their arrival and welcomed in. They were invited to join other travelers for a meal which would be prepared by the inhabitants especially for the weary travelers. It was a wondrous occasion, and the husband and wife took it upon themselves to not offend their new friends by refusing their kind and generous offer.
The wife, who had heard legends of the bounty of the sea in this fine country  was entranced by the variety in which those creatures from out of the waters could be prepared. Also, a puree of a tuberous food was to accompany her dish, and the wife was delighted. The husband looked on his wife with joy, for in their homeland there was no such food to be had, as it caused all men in their home to become ill, and he was delighted that the love of his life, his most cherished friend, would be able to partake of this rare delicacy.
He on the other hand fell victim to the allure of the meat of a bird common to the region, but prepared in a way that transformed it into a sweet and delicious delight, caught between to slices of the most heavenly bread, and placed alongside an overflowing of crispy sticks of the aforementioned tuberous food which was served to the wife as a puree.
The man and wife spend the precious time they had in this enchanted city talking of nothing: of life, happiness, and of the joy that they had brought each other. Their lives were difficult, as neither the husband nor the wife had much in the way of earthly wealth. Neither felt deprived, however, as they found a richness in the company of each other which no earthly power nor otherworldly harm could take from them. As such, they used the time which had been granted unto them to forget about the cares of the world, if only for a short time. And in that time, they were again struck by the arrows of the adoration, and fell in love with each other again.
They spent the rest of that mystical day in a trance, simply reveling in the joy that they brought each other. As the sun set they found themselves lost in each others eyes, and slept that night dancing in each others dreams.
